Description

Fort Liefkenshoek (on the left bank of the river Scheldt) and Fort Lillo on the opposite side of the river were of key importance for the defence of the entrance to the harbour of Antwerp. Both built at the end of the 16th century, they were adapted and modernised to be able to cope with the changing circumstances until as late as the 20th century.

This book tells the history of Fort Liefkenshoek as well as the architectural, technical and military details, using more than 100 photos, plans, drawings and maps. The book is entirely written in Dutch.
