The book describes the theories and history of bastioned fortification.

The first part of the book is a very detailed description of the theory of bastioned fortification. It describes elements, rules, principles, techniques, materials and all other aspects of bastioned fortification.

The second part of the book is about the history of bastioned fortification. After a short introduction on the history of fortification in general, the author describes the different "schools" and theories in Europe - Italian, Spanish, German and French. Italian, Spanish and Central European theories are described in detail. The 17th and 18th century are described individually - with Vauban, Menno van Coehoorn, Montalembert and Carnot and others.

The book is written in Spanish entirely and is illustrated with dozens of drawings, plans and maps. A book for true specialists!
