The German U-Boat Bunkers and bunkerwharves

Construction, use and meaning of the bunkered U-boat strongpoints of both World Wars

The German U-Boat Bunkers and bunkerwharves
Author: Neitzel, Sönke

Language: German

The book describes the construction, use and meaning of the giant German U-boat bunkers built during World Wars One and Two.

Description

At least after the movie "Das Boot" the existence of the enormous u-boat bunkers is known to the general public. Many books have been published on the subject, but - without a doubt! - this is THE best book. Forget the rest: THIS is the best!

After years of intensive research, the author has been able to gather information about all bunkers of this type that were built during World War One, but, on a much large scale, in World War Two. The size of these bunkers is often breathtaking - an example: "Valentin" the codename for the bunker in Bremen is 426 meters long and almost 100 meters wide!

These bunkers were built in Norway, Germany, Belgium and France. The book gives the reader details - in words, but also with the use of MANY photos, drawings and floorplans! - about every bunker that was built and about its purpose.

The book is out of print, hard-to-find and written in German. It is in VERY GOOD shape and illustrated with HUNDREDS of photos (contemporary as well as modern), drawings, floorplans and maps.
