Between 1939 and 1945, nearly 20 (bunker-) headquarters were built for Adolf Hitler all over Europe. At the end of the War, other complexes were still in the planning stage or uncompleted. In the early days of the War, Hitler followed the happenings from a special train, but starting with the invasion of France, he ordered the construction of a safer headquarters in which heavy concrete bunkers offered protection. This was the first of a series of about 20 headquarters - from France to the Ukrain. Each used hundreds of thousand cubic meters of concrete and often up to 20000 (forced) labourers. This book describes all these (bunker-) headquarters in great detail - using 158 photos, drawings, plans, maps and documents. The book is written entirely in German. |
