The book describes the history and architecural details of the German U-Boat Strongpoints and U-Boat bunkers of World War Two.
The German u-boats played a mrole of major importance in World War Two. To supply and support their missions giant bunker complexes were built in Norway, France and Germany itself, with bunkers that were built to withstand the heaviest bombs of that time. The book describes the individual u-boat strongpoints and their bunkers - with many details of their design and construction. The author not only describes the architectural details but also daily life in and the bombing raids on the complexes. Last-but-not-least, het describes the surviving bunkers that still dominate the surrounding landscape - witnesses of the horror of the submarine war. The book is written in German entirely and is illustrated with about 200 photos, drawings, plans and maps. |
